Quick definition: The most comprehensive Medigap plan available to those new to Medicare today.

Full explanation

Medigap Plan G is the most comprehensive Medicare Supplement plan available to people new to Medicare after January 1, 2020. It covers everything that Plan F covered except the small annual Part B deductible (about $257 in 2026). Plan G covers Part A coinsurance and hospital costs (100%), Part B coinsurance and copays (100%), the Part A deductible (100%), the first 3 pints of blood, hospice care coinsurance, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, Part B excess charges, and 80% of foreign travel emergency care up to plan limits. Same-letter standardization means Plan G from any carrier covers identical benefits — only price and rate-increase history differ.
