Full explanation

The ACA Marketplace (also called the Health Insurance Marketplace or Obamacare exchange) is the federal or state-run platform where U.S. residents under 65 buy Affordable Care Act-compliant health insurance. ACA plans cover the 10 essential health benefits, can't deny you for pre-existing conditions, and may qualify for income-based premium tax credits. Plans are organized into metal tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) by how they share costs. The federal marketplace is at Healthcare.gov; some states (CA, NY, etc.) run their own. Open Enrollment for 2026 plans runs November 1, 2025 through January 15, 2026 in most states.
